How we review

We research globally, then filter for Hong Kong.

DinkStart recommendations are editorial. We look at the wider pickleball market, then ask whether each paddle, court, class, or guide actually works for Hong Kong players.

The simple test

Would we send a friend here?

If the answer is no, it does not belong in a recommendation. That applies to paddles, courts, classes, events, and anything else we cover.

The process

Three steps from market research to recommendation.

  1. STEP 01

    Research the wider market

We start with specs, reputable third-party reviews, brand reputation, community feedback, durability reports, and product availability.

  2. STEP 02

    Filter for Hong Kong

A good global pick still has to make sense here: humidity, price, shipping friction, retail access, court conditions, and beginner fit all matter.

  3. STEP 03

    Name the tradeoff

Every recommendation should make clear who it suits, who should skip it, and what downside a buyer should understand before clicking.

Paddle scoring

Scores are editorial, not lab claims.

Paddle scores use a 0-100 editorial score across control, value, comfort, spin, power, and durability. We also consider Hong Kong availability, price, shipping friction, humidity, and beginner fit. Reliable third-party test data can support the score, but DinkStart does not run lab tests or present external data as our own.

FAQ

Common questions.

Do affiliate links affect rankings?

No. Some links may earn a commission, but rankings are editorial. Sponsored placements are marked when they appear.

Does DinkStart run lab tests?

No. Paddle scores may reference reliable third-party test data where available, but DinkStart does not present that data as our own testing.
