Top picks

Overgrips ranked for HK humidity.

Four picks ranked by sweat performance, not US bestseller charts.

Tourna Grip XL Original

≈ HK$65–80 / 3-pack

Tourna Grip XL Original

The community default for sweaty hands. Thin, dry-feeling, and counter-intuitively gets tackier when wet, the more you sweat, the better it grips. Worn by tennis pros for decades and the default in any humid climate.

Best for: Heavy sweaters, HK summer, anyone whose grip slips on standard overgrips after 20 minutes.

Wilson Pro Perforated

≈ HK$75–90 / 3-pack

Wilson Pro Perforated

The plush alternative to Tourna. Perforations let sweat escape rather than sit in the grip, while the cushion absorbs vibration. More forgiving feel for players who find Tourna too thin.

Best for: Players who like a thicker grip or want the cushion. Good middle ground for HK humidity if you don't sweat extremely heavy.

Yonex Super Grap (3-pack)

≈ HK$95–115 / 3-pack

Yonex Super Grap (3-pack)

Comfortable, sweat-absorbing while staying tacky, multiple color options. Lighter than the Wilson, tackier than the Tourna in dry conditions. A household name in HK racquet sports.

Best for: Casual to mid-frequency play. Players who care about color/aesthetic. The familiar pick if you grew up on badminton.

JOOLA Pickleball Overgrip (4-pack)

≈ HK$125–145 / 4-pack

JOOLA Pickleball Overgrip (4-pack)

Pickleball-specific synthetic overgrip with a tacky feel. Cut to fit elongated, standard, and skinny handles. Anti-slip even when soaked, the new-gen alternative to tennis overgrips repurposed for pickleball.

Best for: Players on elongated or non-standard handle shapes. Anyone who prefers a tacky feel out of the wrap.

Grip enhancer

Hesacore, the hexagonal upgrade that goes under your overgrip.

Hesacore is a textured grip layer that sits between the paddle handle and your overgrip. The hexagonal pattern locks your fingers in position so you don't have to squeeze the paddle hard to keep it from twisting on contact, the same pattern Carlos Alcaraz and other tour pros use on their racquets. Less grip pressure translates to less hand fatigue, better spin and slice leverage, and a measurable drop in tennis-elbow flare-ups for players who wear out their forearm. It's a one-time install, lasts months, and pairs with any overgrip on top.

Hesacore Tour Grip, Regular Feel (Medium)

≈ HK$255–290

Hesacore Tour Grip, Regular Feel (Medium)

The standard Hesacore, firmer feel, more direct paddle feedback. Hexagonal pattern locks your fingers in place so you stop death-gripping the handle. Used by tennis tour pros and now widely adopted in pickleball.

Best for: Players with average-to-large hands, anyone who wants paddle feel without losing leverage.

Hesacore Tour Grip, Gel / Soft Feel (Small)

≈ HK$265–300

Hesacore Tour Grip, Gel / Soft Feel (Small)

Same hexagonal anti-twist pattern with a softer gel layer underneath, more vibration damping for players with tennis-elbow or sensitive hands. The Small size fits narrower handles and smaller-handed players.

Best for: Smaller hands, tennis-elbow recovery, anyone who finds the standard Tour Grip too firm.

Hesatac Overgrip Tape (6-pack)

≈ HK$140–165 / 6-pack

Hesatac Overgrip Tape (6-pack)

Hesacore's overgrip designed to layer on top of the Tour Grip. Stretchable, sweat-absorbing, soft anti-slip finish. If you've got the Tour Grip underneath, this is the wrap that goes on top.

Best for: Hesacore Tour Grip owners who want a matched overgrip. Works as a standalone overgrip too.

FAQ

Common humidity questions.

How often should I replace my overgrip in HK summer?

Every 5–10 sessions for heavy sweaters. Every 10–15 for moderate. If your grip starts feeling slick or smelling sour, replace it, both are signs the absorbent layer is saturated and won't recover.

Tourna Grip feels weird and dry. Is that normal?

Yes, Tourna's whole thing is the dry feel. It's counterintuitive but the dryness is what makes it grip wet hands. Give it 2–3 sessions before deciding. Most players who hated it on day one swear by it after a week.

Can I just use the original grip that came on my paddle?

Sure, for the first month. The factory grip is fine in dry conditions. As soon as you start playing in HK humidity, add an overgrip on top, never replace the original, always overgrip on top. Adds a half-size to the handle and dramatically improves sweat performance.

Do golf gloves actually help, or are they a meme?

Real for hyperhidrosis-level sweaters. Mixed for normal sweat, some players say it changes the feel too much, others love it. Try one before committing, they're cheap (HK$80–150) and worth the experiment if your grip system isn't holding.

What about chalk or talc, old-school still works?

Yes, but liquid chalk beats dry chalk in humidity. Dry chalk turns to paste when it absorbs moisture. Liquid chalk (climbing chalk in alcohol) leaves a thin film of dry chalk on your hands without the mess. HK climbing shops carry it.
