What it is

The Six Zero Double Black Diamond, "DBD" in the community shorthand, has been a default mid-tier recommendation since 2023. 14mm thermoformed polymer core, Toray T700 raw carbon face, standard shape, 8.0 oz, 4 1/8" grip. The listing here is technically the Control variant in the line; Six Zero sells both Power and Control branded DBDs, with very similar feel and a small bias toward each end of the spectrum.

Note: the slug suggests Power, but the listed name in the catalog is Control. The community treats both as essentially the same paddle for everyday rec play.

How it plays

The DBD's whole appeal is that it's been around long enough to know exactly what you're getting. Wide standard shape forgives off-center contact. 14mm core delivers genuine pop on drives without sacrificing kitchen feel. Spin (8.6) holds up against newer raw-carbon competitors, and durability data after two-plus years of community use is solid, Six Zero has weathered multiple Gen 3 paddle ban cycles with the DBD still standing.

One community comparison thread put it well: players who switched from a Selkirk Power Air Invikta to a DBD reported significantly improved placement and control with minimal loss of power. That's the DBD's identity, power-leaning, but with enough touch that it doesn't punish you for being thoughtful at the kitchen. It's not the most exciting paddle on the court anymore in 2026, but it's also rarely the wrong call.

The trade-off is that newer thermoformed designs (Vatic V-Sol Power, 11SIX24 Vapor Power) outperform on raw spin and pop. Standard shape has less reach than the elongated paddles dominating tournaments. And the Six Zero Coral line is being marketed as the next-gen DBD replacement, which means the DBD has a shelf-life concern for buyers who care about being on current tech.

Build and specs

Six Zero's QC is good but not at the JOOLA/Selkirk level. Thermoformed construction holds shape over months of play. Edge guard durability is fine, not exceptional. The brand has the longest track record at this price point of any of the "second-wave" thermoformed brands (Vatic, 11SIX24, Spartus), which gives buyers a clearer durability picture than newer entrants offer.

HK reality

Amazon-listed but Six Zero's HK shipping sometimes requires a freight forwarder for direct-from-brand orders. HK availability scored 5, lower than the import-friendly options. Amazon listing solves most of that. At HK$1,300-1,500 landed it sits in the awkward middle: more than a Prism Flash, less than a Perseus Pro IV, with neither paddle's clear edge.

Bottom line

A proven all-court paddle with the longest community track record in its price tier. If you value established durability data over chasing the latest spin numbers, the DBD is a safe pick. If you want maximum 2026 performance per dollar, the Vatic V-Sol Power or 11SIX24 Vapor Power are sharper choices at similar prices.

Just got the 6.0 Double Black Diamond - for Christmas! I won't get a chance to play with it until this weekend. Has anyone else tested this one out? Curious what your thoughts are...

Triple black diamond. This paddle looks extremely intriguing. Love my DBD but have been looking for something with just a little more power from the baseline while maintaining control.

I have used the double black diamond and i love it. looking to go into 4th gen and foam core. and they say the coral is the best all court paddle and could replace the DBD.

Here are the budget paddles I recommend to people based off of how good the paddles felt and the price. Vatic Pro- V7, Flash 16mm and 14mm. Legacy- Legacy pro 16mm. Six Zero - Black Diamond, Double Black Diamond and Sapphire. Spartus - Gladius 16mm and 13mm.

I think it's because it's based on how hard they're serving it on that day and it's not a reliable way of measuring. Having played with both, I would agree the black diamond power is more powerful than the Ruby.
